Q: What are your Quality Assurance procedures?

A: Our mission to be the vendor of choice consistently hones our quality assurance procedures. Our strengths are our collective experience in engineering and surgical instrument manufacturing, and we incorporate this collective experience into our ongoing quality assurance programs. For example, we integrate the standards of new instrument functionality into our requirements for all "like new" instrument restorations.

Q: What is your average turnaround?

A: Our average turnaround is 24 to 48 hours for hand-held instrument tray refurbishment. We understand the importance of maintaining instruments at the highest level of functionality, allowing the surgeons to perform their procedures in an effective and safe manner. We also appreciate that the return to service time of these instruments is crucial, and routinely provide Saturday service as a convenience to our customers. For example, clients send their instruments in on Friday once the surgeon goes home, and they will be returned," like new", by the time the surgeon arrives back on Monday. Just as important; however, are emergency repairs where we have the capability to provide same-day service. For example, if a client sends emergency repairs to be received by 10:30 am, we strive to have that instrument ready for overnight delivery by the close of the same business day

A: All of our services are backed by a 90-day satisfaction guarantee

Q: How are the repairs tracked?

A: All restored or repaired instruments, prior to return shipment, are electro-etched with a repair date code. This allows the customer to internally track the repair intervals of entire trays and individual instruments. For our customers utilizing a long-term preventive maintenance program, we offer in-house record keeping of their instrument trays at no cost. We provide our clients with reports on trays due for refurbishment, as well as a history of service. Additionally, this etch validates our warranty and provides the customer with a quick and easy reference of previous service.

Q: What other services do you provide?

A: We offer a one-stop approach. We service all instrument sets and kits (Cardiac, ENT, Neuro, Orthopaedic, etc), power equipment and accessories, Ridge scopes, Micra knives, and titanium instruments. Five Star is authorized by J&J/ Depuy for the repair of their cast removal and vacuum systems. We have full capability to manufacture custom instruments to "New Product" standards and assist manufacturers with small production runs of component products.
